Sometime in March 1993, Chris stumbled upon guitarist Pete and drummer Zac at Troy Horse Rehearsal Studios, one day, jamming on some killer riffage and they didn’t know any available bassists. In about 15 minutes, he'd convinced them to let him join, and a week later, drummer-turned-singer Anders was also jamming with the new band. He and Pete were from down Braidwood-Canberra way and had written a bunch of catchy songs together.
The four soon decided on the band name "Nude" and set about gigging around Sydney's inner west over the next few months.
Within weeks, Nude eventually went into the recording studio, again at Troy Horse, and live-demoed as many songs as they could afford at the time.
It’s rock, but not as we know it. Jumping from infectious DC-style riffs to indie pop harmonies, and grunge-blues-influences all in a breath, with Anders often singing in what sounds like a made up language, it’s both unique and familiar all at once.
They only played three shows as Nude, and Chris left, for reasons now lost to time, after only a few months; and sometime later, after Zac had also left the band, Pete and Anders decided to reinvent the group.
With several of Anders' talented brothers joining the merry gang, they soon became known as "Smartarse", and they gigged and recorded for a few years after that, before disappearing around the turn of the millenium.

Sadly, Anders passed away in 2014, so we wanted to release this fitting document of a band in its formative days in his memory.
