about

Following the release of their debut EP “Real Soul Pleaser” on Festival Records in 1991, Psyclone Smyle returned to the Festival Studios several times in 1992 to work on a potential follow up release. Despite several promising sessions (including the “Smylin’ Assassin/Tide” single), Festival chose not to pursue any further releases for the band, opting to allow the publishing deal to see out it’s course, and the band was allowed to seek other label opportunities.

Recorded in late 1992 after the departure of original drummer Dan Townsend, the “Suspended” recordings remained shelved while the band attempted to negotiate a new label deal. The search proved unsuccessful and the recordings were eventually included on a limited edition cassette that was given away at Psyclone Smyle’s final show in mid-1993.

In 1994, close to a year after the band had formally split, the recordings were finally mastered and officially released by the band’s former manager who had started the Watchtower Records label, and the band reformed for one very final show to launch the EP.
